The Cherry Adult ADHD-Autism Diagnostic Interview (Cherry AADI) was developed by Lindley Cherry (she/her). She is a part of the queer community and “super neuro-spicy with the ADHD” (Therapist Learning Center, NC). She specializes in adult ADHD, and as an experienced licensed clinical mental health counselor and PhD candidate, Lindley recognized a critical gap in adult neurodivergent assessment - traditional tools developed primarily from research on male, white children weren't serving the diverse adult population seeking late-in-life diagnoses.

What sets the Cherry AADI apart from more traditional assessments is it’s explicit focus on the ways that autism and ADHD present in adults as opposed to children. This assessment takes into account years of learned, adaptive behavior and masking, ultimately increasing adult access to necessary accommodations and medical treatment.
